Two Reproductive Health Supplies Coalition RFPs Issued in Support of Advancing Knowledge Around Maternal Health Supplies

By: Sarah Blake, MHTF consultant

The Reproductive Health Supplies Coalition (RHSC) has issued RFPs for two projects aimed at advancing knowledge in relation to maternal health supplies: issue briefs and bridging knowledge gaps on maternal health supplies. Both RFPs seek to fund work that will support the ongoing efforts of the RHSC’s maternal health supplies (MHS) caucus as it works to advance global maternal health supplies commodity security.

Organizations interested in submitting a proposal should submit expressions of interest to the RHSC by November 12,

The purpose of the series of issue briefs developed under the issue briefs RFP is to explore important developments in the MHS field to date, successful approaches, and lessons learned. RHSC defines the following objectives for this project:

  • Explore the important developments in the MHS field to date.
  • Identify successful approaches and lessons learned, methodologies for scaling up recommended approaches, pertinent bibliography and success stories.
  • Identify knowledge and action gaps.
  • Demonstrate areas where collaboration under the RHSC could add value to the MHS community.

The objective of the bridging knowledge gaps project is to fill some of the knowledge gaps in the maternal health supplies (MHS) sector that may not be addressed by the UN Commission on Life-Saving Commodities (UNCOLSC).  RHSC notes that this should include addressing any knowledge gaps that require a quick turnaround, and identifies the following as possible gaps:  on-the-spot research, technical reviews or other knowledge seeking activities required by UNCoLSC or by the MHS community as a whole.
